Memory Miles – Challenge Yourself From Today – July 4th
A National Challenge to remember our fallen heroes and to help Military Families across the Nation
Take the challenge by walking, running, hiking or biking to complete miles in memory of our Nation’s fallen Heroes and to raise funds for military families in need. Get involved this year with online fundraising pages with tools to engage your friends, families and neighbors or download the new Active Heroes iPhone App when it launches in late March. You can complete your miles in your neighborhood by yourself or create a team and get your friends involved.
2013′s Goal is to Reach 75,000 Miles in
Memory of those who Gave the Ultimate Sacrifice!
Whether you are an endurance hiker, mountain climber, trail lover or beginner hiker you can get involved! In 2011 and 2012 hikers were the biggest overall fundraisers and many of the participating fundraisers got groups of people to fundraise with them and hike the day of the Memory Miles event. Over 200 group hikes were recorded last year and many of those groups completed 10 miles!
Runners raise more per fundraising page. If more runners join in in 2013 then the potential fundraising will be huge compared to bikers and hikers. Some runners even went barefoot as way to honor our fallen heroes. We would like to put out a personal challenge to everyone this year to run at least 1 mile.
The Memory Miles Challenge is filled with people who participated by biking miles. As Bicyclist you can put in some extreme miles to help us get to our goal of accomplishing 75,000 miles in 2013. One bicyclist pedaled at his gymnasium for 24 hours. Another biked all the way across the state of Ohio. Even entire families put in miles on the bikes to raise funds. If you are a bicyclist this is a challenge for you to get involved with!
It’s never too late to create and host a Memory Miles event in your local community! Some people host a local walk or hike in honor of fallen heroes and others create big events with hundreds of people completing miles! Now you can set up an event with Active Heroes and help in a big way! We will even help to get you merchandise to sell and place your event on our website calendar!
If you can't take the challenge this year, make a donation to help military families!
Create A Team!
We are looking for people who can help organize groups of people to participate together from May 11 – June 1st to help spread the word with local companies and other groups in their area like Boy and Girl scouts, JROTC, Schools, Fire and Police stations, ect. Donations to help military families go a long way!
Track Your Miles
The Active Heroes Iphone App is launching by the end of April! Soon you will be able to take on the Memory Mile Challenge and track your miles. Share your data to Facebook and twitter with a click of a button to help raise funds for military families!
Achieve A Big Goal
Set a huge goal that you can complete during the Memory Miles Challenge. Some people try to complete 300 miles, run several races, hike at many National parks and climb a lot of mountains. You can create any idea that you want to inspire your friends, family and neighbors to donate. Make it interesting and donations will start pouring into your online fundraising page!
