On August 28th, 2015, Brigadier General James E. Shane, Jr. announced two recipients of the Active Heroes scholarships on Wave 3 “Listens Live” morning show. Emmanuel Lopp was selected to receive the Associates Degree Scholarship (ACIT) and Jimmy Morgan was selected to receive the Bachelors Degree Scholarship (BSBA). In attendance was Jorge Pazmino representing Sullivan University and Troy Yocum with Active Heroes.
Earlier this year, on February 27th, Sullivan University President Glenn Sullivan announced the creation of two scholarships (One full ride associates degree and one 1/2 Bachelors degree) during the Active Heroes Military Family Community Center ribbon cutting ceremony.
“Sullivan University is proud to announce the Active Heroes Veteran Scholarships,” President Sullivan said. “Sullivan University offers many degrees, programs and opportunities that assists veterans to prepare for fulfilling careers after military service, with emphasis on business and technology-related fields. Our fundamental objective is to enhance the educational and professional development of veterans. They served our country; we want to do what we can to serve them and their families.”
Jorge A. Pazmino, Military Admissions Officer for Sullivan University, said connecting with veterans groups such as Active Heroes “brings a fresh approach to our mission of serving and educating members of the military.”
