LOUISVILLE, KY (March. 20, 2016) One high school senior out of the Pittsburgh, PA area is focusing her senior project on helping local veterans – a cause that’s a personal one for her.
Abigail Glowark, with her family, is hosting a Carry The Fallen 3 hour ruck march event on April 24.
Glowark said she feels many people are unaware of veteran needs, including a sense of community. She said going into the event, the main goal is helping the many veterans in her area.
“I did research on veteran topics, and came across veteran suicide, and saw the Retreat and all the things Active Heroes does to help,” said Glowark.
She said that’s what helped in leading her to deciding to not only devote her senior project to this cause, but to choose Active Heroes to help her do so.
A JROTC student at West Allegheny High School, she said she’s working to promote not only the event to her within her school, but the reason behind the event to help raise awareness.
She said one of her main goals with this senior project is to get veterans out to the event.
“I want to get veterans out to the event, and create awareness to help,” said Glowark.
Glowarks team will be hiking the Panhandle Trail, beginning at Walker’s Mill Station and proceed to Oakdale. To join Glowark and her family at the event, please visit here for more information.
“I, for one, am grateful for the generations that have defended us and for those who still do today”
