Here at the Community Center we want to be able provide services to Veterans and their families that may help them beyond the scope of stress and dealing with PTSD. Active Heroes provides a vast amount of resources, classes, clinics, and seminars that can help veterans in their everyday life that can be beneficial to helping them keep the extra added stresses out of their life. This past Saturday we were able to host one of the those clinics for veterans and their family members to take advantage of; the Legal Aid Society was out at the Community Center. There were attorney’s and paralegals who were on hand to assist in answering legal matter questions and seeing if they could either assist with the issue or provide the correct resource themselves to assist. With the Legal Aid Society’s help and Active Heroes three veterans were able to get questions answered and will be able to move forward with their legal issues with a better understanding and a feeling that there is assistance that will help them to lessen the stress of the matter. The Legal Aid Society hosted a clinic quarterly with Active Heroes at the Community Center. Continue to follow our calendar to see when the next clinic will be hosted.
In continuing to provide a more natural approach to helping veterans in finding ways to ease pain, stress, anxiety, or headaches, Active Heroes held a Self Help Class on Jin Shin Jyutsu. If you are not familiar with Jin Shin Jyutsu, it brings balance to the body’s energies, which promotes optimal health and well- being while facilitating your own profound healing capacity. It is a valuable complement to conventional healing methods, inducing relaxation and reducing the effects of stress. Jin Shin Jyutsu employs twenty-six “safety energy locks” along energy pathways that feed life into our bodies. When one or more of the paths becomes blocked, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area and eventually disharmonies the complete path of energy flow. Holding these energy locks in combination can bring balance to mind, body, and spirit. The evening of the self-help class was a great resource to help 3 veterans where one individual Jerry Allen, an army veteran found relief in his knee pain within 5 min of practicing a technique taught to him by Corrie Brian; one of the Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioners.
