On July 22, 2017, The American Hitmen put on a fantastic show in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky for Cause & Effect 2017. The concert, organized by Active Heroes and Garuda Custom Guitars, and sponsored by West Sixth Brewing company, provided a night of great music, good people, and support for a great cause. The concert was held to raise awareness and raise money for Active Heroes, a 501c3 charity whose mission is to support active duty military, veterans, and their families in the fight to end veteran suicide. When planning the concert, the American Hitmen were the perfect band for the show. Members Tim and Dan Cord, both Marine Corps Combat veterans, found the band in 2005 after serving 4 honorable years and 2 combat tours in Iraq. Their fellow bandmates, Phil Snyder and Dave Briggs, who joined the band in 2005, are fellow Marines and musicians.
The American Hitmen have played numerous shows, and were even featured on the show ‘America’s Got Talent’. Folks who attended the concert in Lawrenceburg raved that the band was fantastic and were full of life on stage. The band made sure to involve the kids who attended the event and even had the adults crowd surfing the kids around during one of the songs. “It was just an epic night all around”, says SGT Bryan T. Huber, co-owner and lead designer of Garuda Custom Guitars.
Along with the concert was a raffle that awarded the winner with a custom guitar, sponsored by West Sixth Brewing company from Lexington, KY. The guitar, won by a woman who brought her whole family out to the event, was emblazoned with the Active Heroes logo on the back and dated for the event. “The American Hitmen even signed the guitar for her”, said Huber.
Another highlight of the event was the moment when another custom guitar was given to Nashville recording artist Tyler Booth. Booth’s guitar featured a laser etched neck-plate with his grandfather’s portrait from his time with the 8th Infantry Pathfinders in WWII.
Families and friends danced the night away to the rock n’ roll music and enjoyed the company of the fellow attendees. Due to the success of the event, plans are already being made to host Cause & Effect 2018 next year. The American Hitmen have already agreed to come back for another event, and West Sixth Brewing company is excited to sponsor the concert again.
