On Sunday, August 13, 2017 Rally Point Kentuckiana hosted a successful Resource Fair for military veterans and their families. The very next day, another successful event took place. The Charity Golf Classic took place at the Standard Country Club in Louisville, KY. Rally Point Kentuckiana is an organization, as a DBA for Active Heroes, that brings together Kentuckiana’s largest veteran employee lead groups from the area’s most prominent businesses. Their main goal is to help resolve two of the greatest challenges that veterans face: unemployment and fulfillment of mental and physical health needs. “That mission of enhancing and improving the lives of veterans in the Kentuckiana community is where the concentration is definitely focused”, says volunteer Eric C. Foster. This year, their initiative will benefit two military charities, including Active Heroes.
Two of their latest events were a huge success for the organization. The Resource fair, presented by UPS, Ford Motor Co., UAW Local 862, and GE Appliances, benefited veterans, military, and their spouses. The event provided employment opportunities and other valuable services in the Kentuckiana area. The event was held at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, and over 100 veterans and their families attend. Attendees were able to meet with companies about employment opportunities and gain knowledge on companies in the area. Additionally, the first 100 veterans/military entrants received a “Swag Bag”.
Adding to the success of the Resource Fair, was the Charity Golf Classic that was held the very next day in Louisville, KY. This was the 2nd annual “Chipping In For A Cause” event, and was hosted by Q103 and 103.9 The Hawk. 108 golfers attended the event, and the day was kicked off with a shotgun start at 10:30am. Every volunteer and golfer who attended the event helped to make it a success for the charities it benefited. Rally Point volunteer, David Page, says of the event, “We owe a huge thank you to the charities who helped recruit volunteers to help run the scramble. It was a total team effort.”
After two successful events, excitement is picking up for the next Rally Point event. Rally for Our Heroes will be held on September 14, 2017 and will be headlined my country music artist Trace Adkins. A cocktail reception and silent auction for the event will begin at 6:30pm and the show will begin at 7:30pm. The event, presented by Coopers’ Craft Bourbon, Q103, 103.9 The Hawk, and WLKY, will be held at the Kentucky Center for the Arts. Tickets for the event are on sale now, and can be purchased at http://www.kentuckycenter.org/all-shows/rally- for-our-heroes. Over 1,000 tickets have already been sold and Rally Point is hoping to sell many more. “It is going to be a truly entertaining and inspiring evening “, says Page.
