The first of many, Active Heroes held its first event at its new Community Center at Louisville Athletic Club.
Active Heroes has partnered with the Louisville Athletic Club to move it’s Community Center into their thriving Jeffersontown location.
For its first event, Active Heroes held a free workout, followed by a delicious free meal and a chance to listen to some incredible speakers.
Louisville Athletic Club made it possible for people to choose between two different workout options, either a high intensity workout or a yoga class. Both workouts left participants sweating!
Between the workout and the speakers, food was brought in and the group was able to get together and get to know one another in a casual setting.
Then along came the speakers.
One of the speakers was a Vietnam veteran, Tom Connelly. He was able to share stories with the group on what it is like to work in the F4 Phantom II Society, a group that is dedicated to the preservation of the history of the F-4 Phantom II Aircraft, which has now been in the service for over 50 years.
The second speaker was Christy Cates, entrepreneur and mentor. Cates went from working in human relations, to creating her own company helping empower people and companies. Cates’ developed agency is grounded in the mission of genuine relationship building as she guides people and brands to success by being boldly and unapologetically themselves.
Stephanie VonTrapp, Marketing Director and General Manager over Louisville Athletic Club, played a big part in setting up the partnership with Active Heroes, as well as planning the first Community Center event.
“Active Heroes is building a community authentically,” said VonTrapp, “It’s a mission that’s driven by individuals sincerely committed to helping others, and people who have been through the trials of combat and service, both abroad and at home. I’m so grateful to be able to participate in their mission and truly believe in this endeavor.”
Altogether it was a really tremendous event. Thank you to those who continue to support Active Heroes, it allows us to continue to hold these free events for veterans, military, and their families.
