20 Veterans a day lose their life from suicide. The highest rate has been 22 a day.
Active Heroes’ Workout of the Day Program is a 22 exercise activity, with 22 reps of each exercise, that includes a 2 minute moment of silence for those who are no longer with us. This program demonstrates our honoring and remembrance of those who have experienced loss and suffering. Physical activity is proven to assist in healing for those who experience anxiety, depression, or ptsd. Healing leads to less suicides. WOD provides camaraderie and awareness for this mission. Our Veterans Suicide WOD events are national events and can be done locally at a gym or in your own space. We have partnered with gyms and crossfit boxes nationally.
Locally, here in Louisville, Kentucky Donna Salib will be hosting our next WOD Event.. This will be hosted virtually on May 23rd from 12pm est. to 1pm est.
Our Leader for this event, Donna Salib, is a local fitness trainer with a heart of gold. Donna has served Active Heroes for many years at our community center in LAC-Jeffersontown. She tirelessly puts in the hours to provide events, socializing, and physical fitness activities for our veterans. Donna reminds us that, “ We share pics and things that we care about all the time on social media. We want everyone to see how cool or awesome it is, or how amazing that it is that we care so deeply about the subject. I want to share a live version of my desire to make everyone aware of my love and passion to end veteran suicide. Join me May 23rd and show your support along with me in showing the world how much our veterans mean to us! The veterans need to know 20-0!”.
Working out may not be your favorite activity, but can you participate? It’s just 22 minutes out of your life, 22 minutes that could save a veterans entire life. If you are able to attend, you can purchase tickets to the Zoom Event here. If you are not able to attend you can also donate to the cause here.
Our Veterans and Active Heroes thank you!
