Our most recent Aiming for Zero event was hosted in Maine. Steve Bedell joined forces with Jason Beam and hosted the event to support Active Heroes. When asked why they chose to support Active Heroes with this event, Steve’s response was ” We have been involved with Active Heroes for a couple of years now, within this interesting times of 2020 with COVID many of the events were cancelled. Veterans jumped right on board and we began a six week push to the event”.
Jason Beam stated,” I have wanted to become more involved with the organization via Aiming for Zero since I first experienced it with Chris. It was one of my first exposures to competitive shooting and I was extremely impressed with the quality of people involved with the competitive shooting community”.
Steve and Jason had lots of help planning and carrying out an event. It is no small task and the Buxton Hollis Rod & Gun Club and its members got behind the event and made it a success. The club and its members instantaneously jumped on board as a lot of members are veterans or have a veteran connection in their family. Huge thanks to everyone involved!
Jason and Steve hosted this event for Active Heroes via Aiming for Zero during a tough time. They found that ammunition shortages was an issue for the event, along with the obvious event issues like large gatherings, extra precautions etc. Academy Mortgage Company joined in the event with a donation of $5000 to help sponsor! They prevailed through the roadblocks and made the event a success!
Steven and Jason have many veterans in their lives, and hold over 40 plus years in public service for Fire, Police, and EMS. They enjoyed hosting the event because they were able to help people, give back, and see the pride and loyalty those who served displayed regarding their service. Steve and Jason speak about veteran suicide, and how one is too many. They hope this event helps bring awareness to veteran suicide.
We are thankful for your contributions! Thank you Academy Mortgage Company for your donation. We are making a difference.
