Reiki – Needleless Acupuncture
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Jin Shin Jyutsu® Treatments
Jin Shin Jyutsu® physio-philosophy is an art of harmonizing the life energy in the body. Born of innate wisdom and passed down from generation to generation by word of mouth, the Art had fallen into relative obscurity when it was dramatically revived in the early 1900’s by Master Jiro Murai in Japan.
After clearing himself of a life-threatening illness, Master Murai devoted the rest of his life to the research and development of Jin Shin Jyutsu, gathering insight from a range of experiences and resources, including the Kojiki (Record of Ancient Things). The resulting knowledge of Jin Shin Jyutsu was then given to Mary Burmeister, who brought it to the United States in the 1950’s.

yoga & meditation
Yoga instruction at the Community Center is provided licensed volunteer yoga instructors through Kentucky Yoga Initiative.
Yoga is much more than poses, and there are many benefits to yoga beyond fitness. Yoga has been proven to aid in the overall mental health and well-being, including helping to reduce the symptoms of stress and anxiety. Derived from the Sanskrit word “yuj” which means “to unite or integrate,” yoga is a 5000-year-old practice, an Indian body of knowledge.
Yoga is offered nearly every Saturday morning, 10-11am.

Patriot Rehabilitation of Untrained Dogs (proud)
Are you a veteran or active in the military, or are you the spouse of an veteran or active military member? Active Heroes and the Kentucky Humane Society are looking for volunteers who wish to become dog trainers, or “military handlers,” for at-risk shelter dogs.
With this rewarding program, you’ll learn dog-training skills and have the satisfaction of knowing you are helping needy shelter dogs in the Louisville area. Kentucky Humane Society behavioral experts will teach you how to use positive reinforcement to train your foster dog. You will receive training and access to KHS experts. KHS provides for everything your foster dog will need – food, leash/collar, a crate, toys, and training materials. All you’ll need to bring is a willingness to learn and patience with your foster dog as you teach him or her manners that will help your dog get adopted once he or she graduates from the program.
Your foster dog will live with you for one month, or longer if necessary to gain the desired skills. After that, your dog will return to the Kentucky Humane Society ready for adoption. You will be key to helping your foster dog gain the confidence, life skills and desired behaviors that will make him or her an excellent family dog.
