This event will be held at a track which will allow people to run, walk or ruck walk to show support of the veterans that surround us. We will begin at 7 pm on Friday evening for the hardcore enthusiast and we intend to have a kick off ceremony at 8:30 am on Saturday. We’ll have a “festival” type atmosphere with a DJ, food trucks and raffles with many items visitors and participants can purchase tickets to win. TEAM Wichita and Active Heroes invites everyone out for the fun and to support our veterans!
Carry the Fallen is a free Active Heroes sponsored event in which participants will walk, run or ruck walk on a track at Colt Stadium in Haysville Kansas. The distance is determined by the amount of time one spends participating. Active Heroes promotes 3 hour, 6 hour, 12 hour and 22 hour walks. A participant doesn’t have to stick to those times, and one may decide to participate for thirty minutes or all twenty two hours.
Active Heroes is a 501 (c) 3 organization whose goal is to raise awareness to veteran suicide and help bring it from 20 veteran suicides a day to 0! The funds go to properties being developed for veterans to retreat and regroup. This event is being hosted by Team Wichita and is the 6th organized event in the Wichita area.
We will be kicking off the entire event at 7 pm on Friday November 2nd for those participants that want to be there the entire 22 hours. Registration for the 22 hours will begin at 6pm on Friday. If you wish to participate for 12 hours you cannot arrive later than 5am (Saturday). If you wish to participate for 6 hours you cannot arrive later than 11 am (Saturday) and to participate for 3 hours you cannot arrive later than 2 pm (Saturday). Please feel free to come and go as you wish and participate as long or as short that you desire. Active Heroes awards a military style patch for participation and raising a minimum of $100. You may bring the money and turn it in at registration, and raise the money after the event and still earn a patch. The patches are designated at 3, 6, 12, and 22 hours of participation, and are not available for purchase.
Team Wichita is organizing food trucks, music, raffles and vendor booths. We hope to have a festival type atmosphere as we support those who have sacrificed so much for us! Please come out and enjoy the event, food, and fun. People of all ages are welcome! For further information go to the registration link, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Team Wichita is also organizing an ending ceremony at 5 pm on Saturday. Please come out and support us!
